The art room is a studio space that brings joy to students and represents a place where they can be themselves and explore their ideas. Encouraging PYP strands of Creating and Responding allows space for students to learn skills, create art, and share and reflect on their learning. Student autonomy and choice are very important ingredients to the success in my art program. Giving students power to choose and decide opens up so many doors to innovative ideas and creative solutions. I find complete joy in teaching a group of students a technical skill, and seeing it blossom and manifest in completely unique and individual ways. Here is a look into some of the ways we create and respond in and around the art room, individually and collectively.
