"In wisdom gathered over time I have found that every experience is a form of exploration."

I find joy, inspiration, and motivation by teaching art. I believe it is and should always be that special part of school where children always feel freedom; freedom for self-expression. Art is showing yourself- or rather finding yourself- in visual form, through innovative ideas! Art is creating and experimenting, responding and reflecting. It has often been my comfort, as it is for many students. I have constant impulse to express my experiences and my thoughts. Art expresses emotion, time and events, often better than any words could ever describe.
As an educator, I want to teach children to recognise this powerful gift-this ability to communicate across languages and races and cultures; to see it within themselves, and enable them to recognise and embrace it as well. Every student in my class should develop their skills and abilities to create through a variety of media and techniques. I also focus heavily on the importance of regular reflection, teaching students to respond to their own creations and the ideas of others. The ability to communicate through visual and verbal language is vital to an artists impact on the world. I want to be someone who helps them sort through their dreams and fears; someone who teaches them to use art to help them address the things on their mind.
I believe in student autonomy and choice in my art program. Students are driven by personal connections, authentic real-world connections, and empowering purpose. I encourage and support collaborative work as it is increasingly essential to be able to communicate and work with others in a team. Art is also deeply personal and there is equally great value in working solo to develop an idea.
I love to challenge students and pose realistic situations for them to solve creatively. Artists are necessary and in high demand for the future of our world. Innovative thinkers and creative ideas will set students apart, propel discoveries, and drive progress in virtually every field of work or study. I want my students to know that they have something unique to bring to this world and help them gather the courage to bring it on. Art is exploration. I believe my role as an art educator is to guide and encourage students through the route of innovative exploration in response the rapidly changing and continually inspiring world in and around us. Through art, students develop a deeper understanding of themselves, the world around them, and what it means to truly think creatively.
