Amy was born and raised in Iowa right in the heart of the midwest, USA. Moving several times across the state while growing up instilled in her the ability to adapt and form community in new settings quickly and comfortably. Her passion for travel began with short term trips to Mexico and Guatemala during high school and college working with NGO efforts and church groups learning Spanish and sharing her art. Gradually her travels took her farther from home for longer periods of time through a Spanish immersion program in Chile for a summer, backpacking and teaching screen-printing workshops in Spanish in South America, to student teaching at Cairo American College in Egypt. She officially started her international teaching career at the American School of Bombay, where she met Dax. They were married in small town Iowa in July 2012 and after traveling and exploring India together moved to Shanghai to teach at Concordia. Their son Isaiah was born in the spring of 2017 and it has been a joy honor and privilege to become parents to such a precious little boy. Amy currently lives and works in Istanbul, Turkey.
